You are a die-hard jogger. The weather could be muggy and a hundred degrees out, or it could be well below zero, but you are out for your jog early in the morning or late at night. You do not stop. Even when you are sick (which is rare because you exercise like gangbusters!), you are jogging/running. If you have not figured out yet that you should invest in moisture-wicking performance clothing, you should be informed of the reasons why.

These shirts protect your skin from harsh, cold winter winds. They also prevent sweat from pooling near the skin. Now, you may be wondering why the latter is important. You see, moisture that pools on the surface of your skin while you exercise in winter weather has a tendency to create the perfect areas for this sweat to freeze. You would lose sensation in your skin in these areas, and the flesh itself could die. You can prevent all of that by wearing the right kinds of moisture-wicking performance fabrics and clothing.

Performance clothing in hot temps helps prevents accumulation of bacteria, which can cause your skin to stink and break down. While the fabric lifts the sweat away from your body, it also lifts the bacteria that has collected in your sweat. You do not smell as bad as you would if you were wearing other types of workout wear during your jogs/runs. Long-sleeve performance shirts also prevent the breakdown of the skin, which is the result of holding the bacteria-filled sweat close to your skin for too long.

Performance Clothing Helps Sweat Evaporate Faster

The weave of the fabric in these clothes helps the moisture (i.e., sweat) evaporate faster. When it evaporates faster, the clothing is lighter and easier to wear because it is not holding a ton of sweat. You are not beleaguered by your body's own sweat, so you do not tire as easily.
